Just when I wondered what was going on in Russian training halls these days, reader Dan submitted this video of Khadzhimurat Akkaev shattering world records with a 210kg  Snatch and 245kg Clean and Jerk!

    Amazing! London should be a great competition. Akkaev would almost have a chance winning the 105 plus with this type of weight.

      Wondering what Akkayev weighs in the video…
      Guessing 110-115kg.

         Yes I would guess that range is typical they mentioned some athletes can be 10kg over their weight class in the training halls.  I doubt he would be much heavier then 10kg at the most because would take a lot more effort to cut weight and him and klkov are both already cutting a lot of weight when you compare how muscular they are to everyone else.  By the reaction of everyone this was a huge training pr for him, unreal but some days with oly lifting you can hit a huge weight then struggle to ever get it again.  I think 200kg is within his range on contest day he did 198 at last years worlds and if he gets a big weight early he might go for a wr in the snatch.  This is still a remarkable lift thanks for sharing it.

      Well, don’t jump to conclusions to quickly.

      Let’s see how much of their training maaxes they can bring into the competition.
