There isnt much out there. the 1974 stongest man tournement in which Soviet coaches did not let him beat Alexeev and again the 1977 Worlds footage were again Soviets did not let him beat Alexeev. There is footage of a 250 clean and jerk which he made very easily and ther is some traiing footage of him training with Rudolf Plukfeldet when he coached Rigert and Alexeev. I will post it when I find it.

He appears near the end of the video, with shorter har and side burns than alexeev and competing in the control competition all the lifters are competing in. This was early during his career around 1973. By 1975 Alexeev admitted in the Book by Dmitry Ivanov that Aslanbek was better than he was. Aslan was not Russian but Ossetian which played against him since the Soviet Union preferred athletes be Russina rather than from UIkraine, Belaruss or elsewhere. When Bulgaria become a power the USSR took the better talent in the 80′s despite where they were from to compete.

Thanks for digging it up Stephen.

Too bad politics have played and still play a huge roll in sports. Always leave the “What if …?” questions standing in the room.

Never heard of him to be honest.

I know digitizing super 8 is not cheap, but it would be nice to have it on youtube.
