Dmitry Klokov Out of Olympics

August 4, 2012 By Gregor Winter

As if Akkaev dropping out of the Olympics (Update: Akkaev may lift) wasn’t bad enough, here we go with more bad news …

Russian weightlifter Dmitry Klokov has withdrawn from the Olympics for unspecified medical reasons, the country’s sports minister said Saturday.

Vitaly Mutko announced Saturday the 29-year-old athlete would not be able to compete, but did not disclose the reason other than to say it was a medical issue.

via

Update: Head of the Russian Weightlifting Federation, Sergey Syrtsov said that Klokov

re-aggravated an old knee injury. And then the knee, which pushes the clean and jerk. It is the front leg (left) that is very ill,”

Update: Rigert says that Klokov had a knee surgery.

They have been training for this moment for 4 years. Everything comes to this. If they don’t show it’s because they can’t lift

Maybe they don’t clean their organism to the Olimpics. I don’t think that in few days, all of they have an injury. Aramnau, Klokov, Akkayev, Ivanov. Too much, too much.

  10. Soiren says

Things couldn’t have gotten worse. Lapikov, Slivenko, Akkayev, Klokov… Also Tsarukaeva lifting with an injury, a prohibition to lose weight for Apti Aukhadov… Be ready to see Rigert get fired from his seat. There has been a big rumble about him going on in Russian weightlifting community, it seems like he is going to take a beat for all that fails.

You are right, there will be lots of talk.

    • Thomas says

what do you mean by prohibition to lose weight for aukhadov?

Last news is that he will move up in weight.

    • Soiren says

      August 6, 2012 at 18:49

Some comments here and there in news feeds and youtube videos were posted, that it was (verbatim) “a coaches’ mistake to not allow Apti Aukhadov to lose weight”, but it seems like bad rumors now. In a recent interview he said that he “saw his underweight on weigh-in and drank a bottle of water to make up for it” (http://translate.google.ru/translate?sl=ru&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=ru&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fizvestia.ru%2Fnews%2F532171). Seems pretty weird, losing purposely a possible advantage, but whatever.

i was really looking forward to the 4-man battle. Looking forward for months.
Saying i’m disappointed is the least. I really wonder what the medical issue is.

Minus Lu Xiaojun’s performance, this is officially the worst Olympcs ever. 105 class was supposed to be the best and now it’s trash. Congrats on gold, Khadzhimurat.

I wont go that far I have really been enjoying all these sessions all very close with some records being set. That said the 105kg was going to be the climax to this olympic games. Its like having sex with a really hot chick and not being able to orgasm, big let down. I don’t want to say its 100% drugs but I think we know it is. I wouldn’t be surprised if their shw drops out also now.

    August 4, 2012 at 17:04

No, no, no, no WTF this isn’t happening?!?!? God damn, 105 could have been the definition of epic and now every single fucking lifter is out except Dolega. Dolega is my favorite but damn, even if he wins what is it worth when the top 3 are gone.

i guess Dolega learns voddo. Now the door is wide open for him.

  23. lifter99 says

    August 5, 2012 at 07:07

this is all due to big brother iwf putting pressure on russia and any other country. u have to understand weightlifting as a sport can’t afford doping tests this sport has been seen as a bunch of dopped up lifters. when u think or see weightlifting people automatically assume doping.
weightlifing will be on brink of elimniation in a few more olympics they just cna’t afford any doping fails. so its better if these guys drop out rather then lose the damn sport. can u imagine if its kicked out of the olympics??? all u have is the worlds to look forward to as an athlete.
watch the super also drop out, same thing in 88 wada cracking down big time.

I am going to the Excel to watch it tonight. The Klokov vs Akkaev battle
was one of the main reasons why I wanted to be there (I was also
rooting to see Aramnau in, but with him pulling out before the start of
the Olympics, it was obvious a 3 way was not going to happen). I heard
about this 2 days ago through a Russian newspaper and I was hoping it
wasn’t true. I still have Dolega to look forward to but…it just won’t
    be the same

    • GregorATG says

      August 6, 2012 at 11:00

It’s is not going to be the same. But you will definitely enjoy the show.

      Have fun.

      • Juan says

        August 6, 2012 at 12:28

Yes, definitely. I don’t know if I want to see Akkaev lifting tonight or not…it might be painful to watch knowing that only a few days ago he underwent surgery. Still, I think it is going to be amazing! PS: You have an amazing page. I’ve subscribed to you on YouTube and I think I will use your page as a very good source for procrastination from now on. Thanks! 🙂
