Paleo Solution #107 Olympic Lifts Starting Position

November 22, 2011 By Gregor Winter

Paleo Solution Podcast Episode 107 has some good weightlifting tips by Greg Everett.

Starting position for Olympic lifts [33:42]

Problem: the top of the shin (almost knee) the bar

Fix:

  • adjust hips till your arms are vertical – shoulders will be slightly in front of the bar
  • make sure bar is not touching the shins at the start
  • don’t open hips too soon – bar has to go all the way to the upper thigh without touching your body
  • partial deadlifts – shift weight from balls of the feet towards the heel – lift to kneecap – keep arms vertical
  • halting deadlifts – mid thigh/hip area
  • segment pulls (pause deadlifts), 1 inch of the floor, at knee, at hip, finish with snatch or clean

Bonus: The Fat Bomb

  • pint coconut milk
  • shot glass olive oil
  • rub butter around the rim of the glass
