Voodoo Bands Arrived

July 10, 2012 By Gregor Winter

Look what came in the mail today.

I bit the bullet and bought a pair of Voodoo Floss Compression Bands.

My way of saying thank you to Kelly Starrett and supporting the Mobility Wod project.

If someone is looking for me today, I’ll be in the pain cave.

      Too late.

But after some testing I am glad to report that none of my limbs fell off and are fully functional.

Do these work well for knee pain also?  On the site they are using it for elbow pain primarily.  They are kind of expensive but if they can help with knee stiffness after long oly lifting sessions I would be very happy.

I don’t have knee pain so I cannot report on that.

But you can use them for the knees. Remember that MWOD where they cut a lacrosse ball in half and used it together with the bands? See here: https://allthingsgym.com/2011/12/lacrosse-ball-cut-in-half-compression-mwod/

Haven’t tried the real Voodoo bands yet, but I took Kelly’s advice for poor Physical Therapy students (like myself) and took a bicycle tire inner tube and split it. Happy to report its doing wonders for my pressing-related elbow pain. Good luck with the real thing Gregor!

I tried the inner tubes too. Found these to be a bit to stiff. The “real” bands are softer. They are maybe 1mm thick latex.

But great to hear that they work for you. Maybe I was just a little sissy.

Bike inner tubes work just the same, I love this technique though.
