does anybody knows what his snatch was? even if it would “only” be 177.5 kg (which is under 80% of the clean and jerk) it would make a 400kg total and 511 sinclair points, which would be higher than Naim Süleymanoğlu s sinclair world record

He had a relatively low snatch ( around 160-162). This sometimes made him vulnerable when he was up against 170 snatchers. Jim

His best official snatch was 167.5. His best total was 382.5. David is right his best official c&j was 215.5. he did clean 217.5 in a meet. I spoke to him this may in Toronto. He told me he c&j 222.5 3 times in training at 78K . I believe he snatched 170 in training

His competition lifts are lower, although still very impressive. His personal best @75kg was 215,5 C&J and 380 Total (equals the current Total WR in the actual 77kg class and is above the C&J WR).

However, I hugely doubt that he was weighting under 75kg in that video.

He was almost certainly closer to 80kg body weight. Either way… WTF!!

It confirms what I always thought. Most lifters personal bests are in training not in competition, yet officialdom can’t recognize the higher lifts. If the documentation is good, I say they should be accepted. Was he over 75KG here? Maybe not. He cleaned 217.5 twice in a meet and recovered almost fast and missed the jerks. This lift was only 16 pounds less than Ken Patera’s official best. I dispute people who say the Bulgarians are naturally stronger. No, they developed the best training methods including—substances? Even today he might be able to do close to 300 pounds.
