Better Homemade Weightlifting Straps

June 27, 2012 By Gregor Winter

Ben Claridad shows you how he makes lifting straps.

Material: rock climbing webbing, ~1.5 ft / strap ($.36 / ft.)

These will never rip apart. They are good for at least 18kN of force.

Athletic tape the ends and you’re good to go.

I would rather work security for a Limp Bizkit reunion tour (all 48 shows) for no pay than waste 10 dollars on some poorly constructed lifting straps that will break after 3 weeks of use.

for more options with width and material – i prefer the straps a little wider. the 1.5” nylon webbing seems to be the kind they use for the ironmind straps. you can sew them together in a triangle pattern to avoid the tape

      Nice shop.

Yeah that’s pretty much it. My Ironmind straps are 1.5 inch as you said. Now if I only had a sewing machine I would mass produce ATG straps.
