Dmitry Klokov 225kg Clean + Russian Weightlifting Team for 2013 Kazan Universiade

July 3, 2013 By Gregor Winter 9 Comments

He said he will attempt a 225kg Clean & jerk, which would be a seasonal best, soon.

Today Dmitry Klokov got the 225kg Clean part.

In related news:

The Russian men’s weightlifting team for the World University Games (Summer Universiade) in Kazan (6-17 July) has been announced:

  • 69kg: Oleg Chen
  • 77kg: Dmitry Khomyakov
  • 85kg: Apti Aukhadov
  • 94kg: Alexandr Ivanov
  • 105 kg: Andrey Demanov, David Bedzhanyan
  • +105kg: Magomed Abuev, Ruslan Albegov

Women’s Team:

  • 63kg: Marina Shainova, Diana Akhmetova
  • 69kg: Oksana Slivenko, Anastasiya Romanova
  • 75kg: Nadezda Evstyukhina, Olga Zubova
  • +75kg: Tatiana Kashirina (she did 140kg and 170kg in training recently)

What do you think? Looks like it’s going to be a good show. Plus, if the Russian Championships can be counted as a test venue then we should get a nice live stream next week 🙂

And to round it off here is Dmitry with a 215kg Clean which was made possible by the accordion skills of Vladislav Rigert.

You think that’s crazy. His recent 155 kg Clean and STRICT PRESS blew my mind

That was good but he commented earlier that his best strict press is 180kg. So waiting for something higher 🙂

Why no Natalia Zabolotnaya? She’s an incredible lifter and gets almost no credit. I was amazed to find that she was the backup 75kg even after setting the world record and (painfully) TYING in the Olympics twice.

Also, I’m glad that Klokov is doing his damnest to prove me wrong for thinking he couldn’t make a comeback.

She had eye surgery so she would not be lifting this season. Also Svetlana Tsarukaeva had meniscus surgery so she would also sit out this season too.
