The beautiful thing is, he didn’t even need to hitch it. The last two strongman records were heavily hitched. Not that they don’t count, but this is a gorgeous deadlift.

Absolutely! Although the last two records (461 from Benni and 462 from Eddie) were not hitched either. What’s so crazy about this new record is that it was easier than these two previous records .. and Eddie did the 462 only weeks ago. NOW he showed there’s so much more to come from him 🙂

You know what? You’re right. I must have been misremebering the last two records because, upon another viewing, neither lift was hitched. Thanks for the correction. I’d also forgotten that Benni did his in an Inzer suit. He seems to have had no luck lately, with his injuries, getting hurt at WSM and having to forgo the World Deadlift Championships. I was really impressed Thor managed to get 450 kg up: that’s a long way for that bar to travel.

Both Hafthor and Eddies lifts were so impressive! And they’re only 26 and 27!!
These two have many more battles to come! Eddie’s got the static strength and Hafthor has the size, and they both have great personalities! The future of strongman is looking fun!

Great lift! As a PLer, it’s interesting to see what guys can manage with straps. I was really looking forward to seeing what George Leeman would lift at this competition after he hit 411 kgs x 4 in training a week or so out. Unfortunately, one of his flights was delayed and he missed the competition. Vid below, I’m sure we’ll see more from him in the future…
