Michael Koklyaev’s Olympic Dream

April 7, 2012 By Gregor Winter

Michael KoklyaevProbably remains a dream.

Michael Koklyaev wants to lift in London, but it looks like it’s not going to happen.

His greatest dream is an Olympic medal, but sports functionaries consistently ignored his candidacy for a seat in the national team.

Does anybody know what’s up with that? Let’s have him start for the US.

He never was good enough for the Russian team. Still isn’t. On the top of that I heard he might have admitted to steroid use at some point, so politics rule him out at that point.

Crazy how you can be not good enough with 200 kg / 248 kg (https://allthingsgym.com/2011/12/mikhail-koklyaev-russian-cup-2011/)

I remember him talking about “now being completely steroid free” in this video (at 8:18 https://allthingsgym.com/2011/09/mikhail-koklyaev-olympic-weightlifting/)

Russia just has too many good lifters.

it is crazy, but as a super heavyweight he’d have to do 210/255 to hopefully medal. and russia has other guys who can and have done that. too bad for misha.

210 255 will get him a silver for sure a gold even if salimi has a off day. honestly i think salimi is going to dominate the supers this year, prob will win by 10-20 kilos maybe. if misha can total 445-450 he will medal i think.

            I second this.

Except for Salimi there is nobody dominating the supers right now.
