A while back redditor physicistjedi offered to test the content of whey protein powders.Protein Powder Analysis

People sent in their little samples. And now here are the results (Google Docs Spreadsheet), thread here.

Because solubility plays a big part in measuring the protein content, he assigned a solubility index to each of the probes. None of the brands delivered the claimed content.

Verdict:

Brandwise, Optimum Nutrition looks very reliable to me. Gaspari and Body Fortress are suspicious and deserves another independent measurement. The others are OK, remember that solubility is important and 75% reading might just be attributable to that. Finally, stay away from American Pure Whey.

    posted by [–]bad_at_photoshop 1 punto 1 ora faplease upvote so everbody will see this:I’m the submitter for the myprotein sample. i forgot to add that this was chocolate flavoured which results in 8% less protein than the unflavoured version (which is also cheaper)this would make myproteins impact whey the winner of this testing with ~0.92 measured/claimed

    “Solubility”? So the amount of water you dissolve your powder in can affect how much protein is absorbed?

      More like a problem of measurement.

      I imagine, if you can’t dissolve it, you can’t measure it. Thus introducing error.
