Reduce Noise of a Weightlifting Platform

April 23, 2012 By Gregor Winter

Depending on how much your neighbors hate you, you might have to think about reducing the noise of your garage gym weightlifting platform.

Check out this post Design for a Quiet, Low Vibration Olympic Weightlifting Training Platform.

Basically, you have to put cushion (like carpet) everywhere two surfaces meet.

Do you have more tips on how to soundproof your gym?

i have 2 neighbors who do olympic weight training under our beach home which is connected to ours.  Everyday 4times a day. at 8am, at 10am at 6pm and at 8pm.. Dropping weights onto concrete..the intense sound and vibration cause me to have an episode where for hours after i am very sick. I have asked them to build a platform they will not..i have asked if they will change there times and they will not. It is harming my health due to meniere’s disease that i have as well as copd. I have politly tried to come to a compromise with them and no go. I am told ” I will lift when i want” There is no concern for me. I am not moving. I live in a beach house connected to theirs; house is up high..so the sound and vibration is bad for me health wise. I cant just leave my home as i am ill and that is why i work at home. What can i do to solve this issue?

You could buy them a platform?

Or report them to your local homeowners association….lol
