Getting Under the Bar Quicker

Sean Waxman addresses another common weightlifting error - Not Getting Under the Bar Properly.

He has some exercises to drill the change of direction so you can get under the bar quicker.

    i think this would only work for some not all like alot of things… kakhi kakhiashvili doesnt even move his feet yet his speed is one of the fastest in getting under the bar

      I didn’t see the whole video, so I don’t know what your referring to, but yeah, you don’t need to move your feet to drop under the bar fast. You just explode and immediately switch directions, You also pull yourself under the bar. IMO, i think hang snatches are good exercises for this.

    Good exercises, but the receiving position should be full depth. Otherwise I have a hard time believing that it will carry over well.

    We call this drill the Pull Under and would perform it with an unloaded or lightly-loaded bar and actually work on moving from the top position of full extension to the rock-bottom recieving position in both lifts.

    They’ve put together some really useful videos – production values aren’t great but they are 100 times better than all those crossfit instructional videos that spam YouTube
