Behdad Salimi 260kg Clean & Jerk

October 29, 2013 By Gregor Winter

Meanwhile in Iran …

Much like Dmitry Lapikov did his 215kg Snatch under meet conditions, Behdad Salimi also shows that he is still a force to reckon with.

260kg Clean & Jerk. Happened yesterday October 28th, 2013.

It’s been a while since we last saw a weight like this.

Read about his troubles with the Iranian coach Bagheri why he and how he & others were kicked off the team here.

This situation is very hard on him. He has to prove himself but can’t take the credit for it. Bagheri doesn’t care about how much he lifts because he’s got a replacement. It seems he’s gonna have to apologize or something otherwise he will remain cast out.

This was posted showing Salimi crying on a Iranian news program. Can someone translate? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnUB0hmj_mg#t=49

This is nonsense, this is not the whole show but Salimi and his friends took it to another level, now they want Rezazadeh to go ! they accused him of framing Saeid Alihosseini for doping and they are afraid of him doing the same for Salimi. apparently it was just a new start for another fight. a much bigger one this time.

This is so sad. Why cant the lifters just lift, and whoever is the most promising, most prepared with best training results can get the chance to prove himself at intl level. Why cant weightlifting be just weightlifting? I guess it cant, this is the real world, not some childs game.

Very sad indeed. If you want to be successful you have to be very diplomatic and political too. You can’t ignore the powerful men around you and you must play the game with them. It is bad. So many couldn’t do it. Like Lance Armstrong. He thought that he was the most powerful and pissed off a lot of people he shouldn’t have to. Maybe it’s a wrong example but the main thing is : sport is also politics 🙁

Jimbo, make no mistake Rezazadeh is not a very trustworthy man. It is a common theory in Iranian weightlifting circles that Alihosseini was framed. Rezazadeh is often reffered to as a bully.

He needs to defect to the U.S. we could use someone who lifts like that!

Bagheri just resigned, he is not the coach anymore. even though they have to accept his resignation first.

His grip is wider for the clean & jerk than Oleg Chen’s for the snatch 🙂 🙂 🙂

That happens when your over 2 meters tall hah. He is untouchable right now when he is on, noone is even close to his best numbers for shw. He has to come way off to lose any contest he goes into. I expect some big numbers from him at his next contest.

Ruslan Albegov begs to differ, lets not forget that his time in the army(2 years off) had results on his overall development. After London, Ruslan had a press conference with one of the coaches beside him,the one with the beard, not Venkov. He mentions the whole army thing, and how it cost him gold medal. i dont understand why ever a lot of people are on this guys nuts, he is very good no doubt. i would say he is the best at the moment, Ruslan is.

He nearly lost to Irans up and coming SHW bahador at this years world championships-he was very close to making that last lift-. I don’t think he is in any position to be considered the best. Ruslan isn’t even the best shw on russias team. Salimi will break the clean and jerk record along with the total record in the coming years.

Isnt even the best Super heavy in Russia?? Do you even follow weightlifting?? who is better than Ruslan? Chingiz with his 200kg snatch at best, and his “monstrous” 240-245 cnj. Or is it Lovchev???Wait, wait, it must be the sntch specialist lapikov, who can barely clean 240. Please!!! make no mistake he is the best Russia has, Look up his 205 snatch for double from blocks, i know its not strong. as far as Bahador goes, his snatch will always hold him back, for now. Also idk why Ruslan couldnt hold the bar over his head on second attempt, i think he was ready for 260. nearly lost dont count, Ruslans latest gold medals sure do though. im not trying to sound like a jerk.

Agreed. Ruslan is not being given nearly enough respect. Both the 209 and 255 looked solid– like there was still room for improvement. He’s earned his title as champ. Salimi will have his work cut out for him. I’d LOVE a battle between those three. Could see some huge numbers

He can use the army as an excuse if he wants to, but he is still not better than Salimi at the moment. They have the same best competition total, and Albegov’s 255 jerk at worlds took everything out of him – he could barely walk afterward. They are close, but Albegov has some work to do in the snatch in order to match Salimi.

            November 1, 2013 at 19:14

two 255 attempts in a row would do that to Salimi as well, plus we dont even know what his training max for snatch is.

right now ruslan is the best shw, after all he is the world champion. and he and salimi have the same best total 264.

Salimi wasn’t pressured on his c&j’s for his 464 total. 214/250 that was done a lot easier than 209/255, could have been 214/255 or even 214/260 if he was being pushed in Paris. Regardless of who would win, I can only hope that one day we will find out [=

Well considering salimi has not lost a contest yet and is the olympic champion I would say he is better. They have went head to head before and ruslan lost. Once ruslan beats him head to head then you can say he is the best.
