Brian Shaw 517kg (1140 lbs) Tire Deadlift

January 17, 2014 By Gregor Winter

Brian Shaw, the 2013 World’s Strongest Man, gets a huge Tire Deadlift.

517kg (1140 lbs)!

Also check out his 448kg conventional Deadlift.

Here is Mark Felix’s 511.5kg (1128 lbs) Deadlift for comparison.

kind of a newb question, perhaps, but i’m curios about how different this lift is than a conventional DL, and what makes it different (easier, i assume)…

Look at the bar bending. Notice how the bar comes up to knee level before outside tires leave the ground.

So he is not pulling on 517kg right from the floor. It’s a gradual increase in load until all tires leave the floor.
