DIMAS Documentary Part 5 – From Athlete to Myth

April 26, 2017 By Gregor Winter

Here is Part 5 of David Boffa’s & Jonas Westbrook’s (The Two Doctors) Pyrros Dimas Documentary.

DIMAS – Part Five – From Athlete to Myth from David Boffa on Vimeo.

Pyrros talks about the Sydney & Athens Olympics, his rivalry with Giorgi Asanidze and struggling with injuries as an aging athlete.

For example how a month before Athens he underwent knee surgery and which then played a role in him injuring his wrist and having to get injections during the competition!

Oh and he also mentions …

His Best Training Lifts:

  • 190kg Snatch at 92kg bodyweight
  • 225kg Clean
  • 220kg Clean & Jerk
  • 290kg Front Squat
  • 325kg Back Squat

290 front squat, a huge number for a 85 kg. That’s why he always recovered so easy in the clean

Amazing squat numbers, it’s gonna be interesting to see what happens with team USA in the future, given the talent they have and the quality coaching they are recruiting.

This was a great series. To the producers, many many thanks. The human interest aspect behind competition weightlifting is a rich and rarely glimpsed store of awesome stories.

    More please.
