IOC: Weightlifting No Longer Conditional. Will be included in Paris 2024 Olympics

March 26, 2019 By Gregor Winter

Meanwhile in IOC News…

Weightlifting is no longer conditional and will be included in the Paris 2024 Olympics!

Update: Official post on the Olympics website.

The IOC EB decided at its meeting today to lift the status of conditional inclusion of weightlifting in the programme of the Olympic Games #Paris2024, subject to a number of conditions. #IOCEB

I’m curious to see what the conditions are.

Background: After all the re-test positives the International Olympic Committee put weightlifting on the “conditional” list for the 2024 Olympics, meaning that there was a good chance that it will be dropped from the olympics.

Why? As far as I can tell, that is some form of removing weightlifting from probation, NOT saying that it will be cancelled from the Olympic program.
