After finishing second six weeks earlier at the 2014 Asian Games the 20 year old from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam broke two junior world records – Snatch and Total (296kg).
Trivia:
- 135 kilogrammes is the heaviest winning weight in Snatch in this category since Halil Mutlu in 2001 (137.5 kg).
- Thach is the first non-Chinese lifter to claim the title in Snatch since Halil Mutlu (TUR) in 2001.
