Intensity techniques as an alternative to straight-up power training:

  • negatives
  • slow eccentric, explosive concentric
  • pre-exhausting, isolation movement before compound movement
  • forced reps
  • cheat reps

And Lonnie calculated how many calories you need to build a bound of muscle.

2300-2650 surplus calories (biochemical cost to synthesize a pound of muscle).
