Very high result for Kuo given the time of the year. I’m sure she will attempt 142 this year (Universiade/Worlds), barring other circumstances.

The discrepancy between Albert’s snatch and C&J is quite astounding. He’s mad strong though, and I can see him medaling at the world’s.

148/187 gives a ~79% sn/c&j ratio which isn’t really that far from “optimal”. Most people will snatch 80-85% of their c&j.

        Hmm…That isn’t as bad as I thought it’d be.
I guess I was comparing his numbers to the best in his weight class, who C&J as much as him but snatch 5~15 more.

Are Albert Linder and Semen Linder brothers? Cus it’d be pretty embarrassing to clean and jerk 7kg less than your own brother did from 2 weight classes below you…

They are brothers, Semion is younger

where is lu xiaojun , He did not participate in this event ?

Probably left at home to give a chance of international experience to a newcomer with great potential. At Lu’s level and age, longevity and injuries are issues and this competition means nothing to him; is better to limit his participation to keep him healthy and prepared for a bigger challenge like the WWC. The Chinese realized that he lost because he had let his C&J go down and it cost him the gold in Rio. A few months later he C&J 207kg, a poundage she had not touched in over three years and 5 kilos more than in Rio. Had he done this 207 even just 205 kg the Kazakh would have not tied and win on body weight. The man has a great clean but needs to be perfect each time with his squat jerk where there is no margin for error like in the split version.

        April 28, 2017 at 13:57

I think you got the sequence of events mixed up. He did 207 a few months earlier than Rio, at the 2016 Chinese nationals.

Thanks for the correction. I just went through the video. This only means that Lu’s low C&J at the Olympics was very unfortunate and that his Jerk, not his clean, was very suspect as always. It cost him dearly and it shows that inconsistency in any aspect of your lifting can always ruin your day. He did not even need the a 207 Jerk, only 205 to put it out of reach for sure. Who knew the Kazakh had in him?. The Kazakh lifter had a great clean but barely held 215 jerk and the judges gave the signal to drop the bar in less than a second as he almost lost it forward. Not every body can hold up a record weight up for a long time like Ilia Ilin leaving no doubt. Very courageous and worthy lifting nevertheless and the surprise of that competition.

I dunno. 4th was a South Korean who medalled bronze in both snatch and clean and jerk but none in the total. I don’t remember lower than 4th.

Pretty good fight in the women’s superheavy. Kim Kuk Hyang must hate China so incredibly much between Meng in Rio and now Jia! Wicked clean and jerk by Jia!

It seems Wiki is more updated source for results. It only shows medal winners in each lift and total.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Asian_Weightlifting_Championships
As I mention before Women 58 or 63 kg lifters can medal in the new 90kg catagory. It is a total waste of money at this point IMO.

Anybody knows if there is a full recording of the 85 kilo class?

Any full recording of the Women’s 75kg? I only see the gold medal video that is over a minute long
