Aleksey Lovchev 215kg Snatch off Blocks

July 15, 2016 By Gregor Winter

Meanwhile in Russia …

Aleksey Lovchev snatches 215kg off blocks!

Unfortunately today the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed his appeal. So we won’t see him in Rio. (via)

Most likely we’ll see him next at the 2016 Klokov Power Weekend in November.

More:

  • his 211kg Snatch + 264kg World Record Clean and Jerk
  • His 220kg Snatch off Blocks

Does he still have a chance to reduce the ban from 4 years?

This Olympics is a bust, no Aleksey and no Ilya. The two best lifters in the world won’t be there, the competition has been reduced.

That looked easy- more kg left in the tank for sure.

He says that he wants to participate in tournaments organized not by IWF. I don’t know which he means. I think he won’t return to IWF competitions

The options are very limited and even training in official clubs/training centers,.. can lead to a secondary ban on top of the original!
It also means that clubs and federations can not allow a banned athlete to train with them. So only very unofficial organisations are allowed.

WADA: “Ineligibility means exactly what it says – you cannot take part in any competition or the activities of an
International Federation, its member national federations or their member clubs. This includes training
with your club or team or using facilities that are linked with your club or team.
Similarly, you cannot take part in any competitions authorized or organized by any of the other signatories
of the Code (such as the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee, the
National Olympic Committee) or their affiliated entities.
Likewise, you cannot take part in any professional league or any international- or national-level event
organization or any elite- or national-level sports activity funded by a governmental organization. ”

With the current attention for state organised doping, I think they better pay attention to some practices:
      – banned athletes posting instagram training videos with the team….
      – countries with out of competition participants serving a ban in the national championships

Well, if he doesn’t want to compete IWF, none of the above is a problem.
