September 26, 2014 By Gregor Winter 12 Comments

Meanwhile in Korea .. at the World Record Breaking Festival 2014 Asian Games.

Here are all lifts from Behdad Salimi.

Snatch: He opened with 200kg. Then did 210kg for an easy second attempt. He tried 215kg for a new World Record, but missed it in front. Remember that only weeks ago he did 215kg in a competition in Iran.

Clean & Jerk: He opened with 241kg to secure gold and took 255kg on his second attempt. Skipped his third.

He also won the weigh in with 170.87kg.

Behdad Salimi won the +105kg with 210 + 255. Here are all his attempts.https://allthingsgym.com/behdad-salimi-210kg-snatch-255kg-clean-jerk-2014-asian-games/More Videos and Links to Full Recordings here: https://allthingsgym.com/2014-asian-games/

Nice lifts by Salimi. I wonder if Moulaei can improve in time to the worlds, or if it’s going to be mainly Salimi vs the Russians.

With the great snatches we saw at the Russian championships and the 215 attempt from Salimi here, which didn’t look too far off, maybe it’s time for the old 216 kg mark to be matched or maybe even exceeded in the years up to and including Rio.

Molaei was seriously injured but still competed to win a bronze or something. but he withdrew since he found out the competition not that weak. and after today, it’s announced he will miss the World Championships.

Damn, that sucks! It was painful to see him open at 170. Good thing he decided to skip C&J

Without Moulaei, the worlds will be without some serious clean and jerk power. One of the few that could have gone for 260 or more.

If Salimi and the Russians have a good day, the snatch record is hanging loose though. Looking forward to November.

A real shame those news about Molaei 🙁

In my opinion he should’ve stayed at home trying to recover in time for the Wch instead of trying to compete, what probably worsened his injury.

ZHOU Lulu lifted 192 kg in c&J for new world record.

Moulaei lifted only 177kg in snatch and did not attempt C&J. He claims his both knees are bad. Iranian fan are asking resignation of Rezazadeh Iran Fed. President and head coach Tavakoli.

Hmmm. Looks like they chose the talent (Salimi) over the coach (Bagheri), and given Moulaei’s recent injury it may have been a wise choice.

Salimi is a great lifter but – in my opinion – he is too heavy. He couldn’t handle 3 snatches in a row. Not because he wasn’t capable but because a 170 kg body is one helluva heavy staff to move. You just get tired very easily.Chingiz is in the same situation. He can’t handle the clean – so far – because he has to lift his 190 kg bodyweight too. Bahadour and Lovchev seem to me more promising. Of course the first two have more chance to break the snatch world record so I can’t complain 🙂 And I am looking forward to see Albegov back.

465 & 255 are new intl comp bests. Coincidentally it also beats last year’s wwc, so I guess it’s a nod towards Russia. “I’m in the best form of my life and I can beat you”.
