Dmitry Klokov 235kg Rack Jerk

March 6, 2014 By Gregor Winter

Meanwhile in London …

Dmitry Klokov keeps on putting up high numbers during his seminar world tour.

After 190kg Snatches or 190kg Thrusters became a common occurrence, here is a 235kg Rack Jerk.

Not a lifetime max (262kg), but only 10kg below his 245kg Jerk from before London  2012.

Pretty insane if you consider all the travelling he does.

Here is the complete video from the seminar.

THIS is impressive; before I kinda felt like “well it’s nice that Dmitry is touring and lifting but he doesn’t have that OLD strength.” This is huge.

if he had the same strength now like in his pre-comp training-clips, there would be something really wrong with his preparation periods.
however he is still really strong in his offseason..

He is very likely heavier in these exhibitions. He has stated that his “old” natural training weight went up to 120kg (without getting fat) which he had to restrict to 107-108kg because cutting to his class was just too much.

He did weigh himself on one of the tour stops. Still 108-109kg

Is he using a thumbless grip?

It looks like it. I may be wrong, but I think he goes thumbs under on FS as well.

I think he has mentioned before that his wrist have been killing him since forever. It looks weird to me do be jerking thumbless

My coach does it as well. When he comes up from the clean the bar leaps up from the body for a split second. In this time he switches the grip. I tried it, but it felt awkward to me. However, the advantage is that the wrist is better aligned in comparison to the the normal grip.

I have never tried it before. If I manage to keep the bar well in the palm of my hand after a clean, I feel really solid with the normal grip, but occasionally I mess up the rack a bit and the bar goes closer to my knuckles( if you get me) and there I reckon a thumbless grip will feel more comfortable. Still I feel even strict pressing stronger with a full grip
