Hang Power Snatch to World Record with Lesman Paredes

January 30, 2022 By Gregor Winter

Here’s another technique and training hall video for you: hang power snatches!

Early Access for our Patreon Supporters.

We look at Colombia’s Lesman Paredes, who won gold at the 2021 Worlds and set a snatch World Record in the process—187 kilos as a 96kg lifter!

This video looks at:

  • Why Lesman uses hang power snatches (especially so close to competing!)
  • His view on moderate vs heavy training
  • Bar path and shoulder position
  • Wrist position
  • And more!

Preview

We also bring in a couple lifts by Venezuela’s Keydomar Vallenilla, another 96kg athlete who is built very differently from Lesman. Despite their differing proportions they overlap in a few key areas!

Hang power snatch is a great movement for a variety of reasons depending on the athlete and the timing of the training. Let us know if you use them in your training, and if so, how! Or if you have any questions about training with this movement feel free to drop them in the comments as well.

Thanks as always for your continued support!

-Gregor and Dr Boffa
