Iron Radio on Overtraining

August 26, 2011 By Gregor Winter

Iron Radio Podcast on Is Over Training Real (direct link to mp3)

You have a finite amount of times you can be punched in the face before you get knocked out.

Losing sleep? No appetite? No sex drive? Joint inflammation?

Overtraining does not show in a single symptom. It’s a collection of symptoms that slowly creep in and are very hard to overcome.

So the Iron Radio crew goes into the following questions:

What does it really take to overtrain?
What are the symptoms?
Can you train and adapt recovery ability itself over time?

Lonnie, Rob and Phil lay down fact and opinion on whether or not overtraining in strength sports is a real phenomenon. Some trendy Internet gurus and coaches may have you believing it’s not and that you’re just a wus – that Olympic style three-a-days should be your ticket to bodybuilding hugeness. Then again, some guys you know may actually be wussies and use supposed overtraining as an excuse to do curls in the squat rack and spend all their time surfing Internet forums.
