Mikhail Algash Dies after Liver Rupture

April 26, 2012 By Gregor Winter

And now for some truly sad news.

23 year old (!) bench press world record holder, Mikhail Algash, who suffered a liver rupture during training, has died in hospital.

“Mikhail Algash lost too much blood and died from a liver rupture,” according to a spokesperson for the hospital in the Siberian city of Omsk.

Hate to see young talents go so soon.

Appreciate him benching 275kg, 280kg, 282,5kg,  raw in training.

Hat tip to Dan for the news.

Haven’t heard anything other than what is written in the RT article.

Is something like this possible because of having a belt press against your organs?
