Just as I did last year for a Bundesliga Weekend, I followed the Latvians to one of their Bundesliga weightlifting competitions.
Similar story as last year. I pick them up at Berlin airport, drive to Chemnitz. The two immediately had a small training session after arrival, a small training session in the morning, followed by competition in the afternoon. The only thing different from last year was that instead of Rebeka Koha, 2016 European champion Arturs Plesnieks joined Ritvars Suharevs.
19 year old Ritvars (78.5kg) had a great competition, going 6/6.
157kg Snatch 🏃♂️ + 186kg Clean & Jerk. This was an international competition PR (he has done 160kg / 190kg in Latvia)! Also, 157kg would have been a snatch bronze medal at worlds 2017 at 77kg…
