Aleksey Lovchev 205kg Snatch (215kg Miss) 2015 Central Federal District Championships

April 19, 2015 By Gregor Winter

Meanwhile in Russia …

This weekend (18-19.04) there have been the Central Federal District championship and some big names showed up.

Like Aleksey Lovchev (read his interview on ATG) who made some pretty big jumps on his attempts.

He competed at 141.70 kg bodyweight.

That 215 was a shame, so close.

Beast. It would be nice to see some super heavy world records going down. As good as Salimi has been, we’re still basically in the “post-Rezazadeh” era.

Wow that 215, the look on his face. Soon

Awesome! Strength is there, and he can get under it–only a matter of time for 215 barring injury.

If he can stay injury free and gets it right no one will be able to beat him at the worlds. He’s the best super heavy lifter I’ve seen in the last ten years which is something having seen Salami,Albegov and Bahadour.

I think that he will not be in the wwc this year. He might focus in rio 16 and break records

I think he will be. The Russian support system doesn’t pay him because he didn’t get a total at the worlds last year. He needs to win major medals to get that and I think he wants to become a world champion. That’s a big thing even in Russia. Not everybody can skip years like Ilya.

Yes and not everyone can train at a gym at the presidential compound either. So I have heard! I agree he is my favorite super too. He will win in Houston this year, will be another good competition to watch.

Since Lovchev does not have a world title, there is a possibility he wants it badly. If he wins the world’s this year, it would also be a confidence boost since it proves that he can beat the best when it matters. It could also maybe increase his standing with the Russian federation and officials and maybe give him an easier time to qualify as the Russian choice of superheavy for Rio (I have no idea really, but it can be a possibility).

i heard albegov had a really bad preparation with a lot of injuries before the worlds last year. so i dont know why he shouldnt improve his results significantly, too. plus he has already shown, that he is ready to win the big competitions..

He probably will. I really hope so. Like him too. But if everything goes well for both of them, Lovchev will beat him. I just see more in him that’s all. He’s got everything what a really superheavy needs. He’s not overweight but still young. He’s been showing very good form for more than a year now and most of all : he will be able to cnj 260+. Salami and Albegov? I don’t know.. Bahadour yes!

in my eyes albegov’s 255 at 3rd attempt of wwc 2013 didnt look harder than lovchevs 257 in 2014. i think if they have a good preparation period without bigger injuries and a good competition day, they’re both good for 260.
i’m a bit more impressed by albegov than by lovchev, since i heard of his comparatively weak pr’s in the strength lifts. he seems to have found his perfectly efficient technique..
