Igor let me know, that Vlad is his cousin.

He first stepped a foot in the gym at the age of 6. His father (Vladislav Lukanin) and his uncle are masters of sports in weightlifting.

Since he stopped lifting for Russian in 2011 he is currently looking into proposals of countries he can lift for.
