Posts this a day before competition? Got to be mind games. Hahaha. This is so sick though.

Yeah, Kydyrbayev (94kg champ) did that also with a 230kg Clean and Jerk before worlds last year. Not sure if it’s also because they all have their mock meets before comps.

Martirosyan just posted his 230 clean and jerk. 🙂

strange that he put the 1.5kg on the inside. I assume it was done to increase oscillation.

In his older videos on here you can see him do it with the silver eleiko 2.5kg plates also.

could it be a mental thing? he puts the plates in during warm-up and “forgets” about them when doing bigger lifts so he doesn’t psyche himself out. maybe he’s thinking here this is only 230 before he lifts it.

I really doubt he warms up with 23 kg. My first thought was that it was a called shot. He was like “I’m going to hit 233 today” which just happens to be the wr in the weight class below him, which about as good a target as any to shoot for. Just my guess though!

I do not know the rules or have I ever lifted to get a lot of bar whip. I am just a beginner.

Do you achieve more bar whip when you place the heavier weights as far out as the can because of the lighter plates?

Would this amount of advantage help at the highest levels in setting records like swimmers using those suits and shaving their heads?

If you’re good at exploiting the bar whip – I think so, yes. David Rigert explained in one of the documentaries on barbells that he had his lifters put the plates further out on the sleeves of the bar to simulate the bar whip at higher weights.

That’s wgat happens if you use a deep squat jerk style — you get a 22 kg less competition result.

Tell that to Lu Xiaojun and Tian Tao.

But remember his international best is 219 and not 211 and also search for his 225 and look how close it was(he had already won so how cares about that 225)
