Mike Tuchscherer Deadlift Cues – Breathing & Using the Lats

Mike Tuchscherer talks about cues that help his Deadlift.

  • breathing – 3 pressure breaths + one big breath
  • “locking the lats” by pulling the shoulders blades down, like the “shoulder pop” mentioned here

Update 26.09.2013: Another video from Mike explaining how to use the lats in the Deadlift.

  • Flexing the lats – Pulls the shoulder down and back
  • Cue: bend the bar across your legs

Update 15.09.2014: another Deadlift instruction video from Mike. At the end he also addresses the “using the lats” cue.

Update: Stumbled across this video of Mike where he does Deadlifts with a Pause right after lift off… with 297kg (655lbs). Perfect Form.

    Is there a string tied to the bar for something? Is that for bar path?

      I think it is for measuring the speed & acceleration (i.e. force production).
