Rim Jong Sim All Out 2015 World Weightlifting Championships

March 3, 2016 By Gregor Winter

Out of all performances at the 2015 World Championships, there was one that stood above all others.

Olympic Champion Rim Jong Sim (75kg, North Korea) giving her all after getting injured.

When I saw her in the warm up area after snatches she was in tears and had ice on her leg. Nobody thought she was going to come out for clean & jerks. Yet she did.

She attempted not just one clean & jerk to just post a total. No, she came out for all three and in the end took home silver!

I am torn. On one hand it is very impressive that she managed to deal with the pain. On the other hand I prefer when the athletes stay healthy and I wonder if those extra lifts post injury will affect the healing process.

Wow….regardless of your feelings on injury and worsening them by pushing through. This woman deserves a round of applause. Courage beyond words.

Nobody criticized Kerri Strug. Everyone knew her ankle was in bad shape, yet she went out there and nailed a vault on that torn up ankle. We cheered and marveled……the same should be done here!
