If you bomb the snatch you don’t get CNJ attempts in the Chinese games, it’s like the Olympics.

Ah ok. Thanks for the info.

Actually my bad, I think you can still compete but there’s just no medals for the individual lifts.

Damn I know Lu H missed but I still want to see his lifts 🙁

God damnit, Su Dajin. He somehow remains one of my favourite lifters even though he misses almost every lift.

Really good to see him competing. I start to think the lifters have retired when I don’t see their results for a while.

Hahah, so true. He is so inconsistent yet consistent if you get what I mean.

National Games started last week and are still ongoing. Last weightlifting event is on Wednesday, 11.9.2013

Thanks. What was the last competition that Liao Hui was at, where he attempted 200kg? I thought that was the National Games.

        • Gregor says

          September 9, 2013 at 23:31

National games is like a China only Olympics.

200kg attempt was at 2013 Chinese Nationals

By the way. the search function on ATG works pretty good now 🙂

Thanks. I thought Chinese Nationals and National Games sounded pretty familiar so I thought they were the same thing for a while. Guess not. Hopefully Liao Hui gets 198 or 200 at the worlds.

Watching Lu approach 211kg was like watching someone work up the courage to ask a girl for a dance.

Also, dem asians and their subtle oscillation.

    • Afferbeck says

      September 10, 2013 at 12:50

I wonder how many times he’s tried 211kg in competition now. Must be at least a dozen. And yeah I notice Liao Hui doing a few very noticeable bar wobbles before his jerks.

Three it seems; 2009 worlds, 2011 worlds, and this.

What is wrong with Lu Yong? Bombed again, I wish I’d be able to watch him performing on his level again.

    • Afferbeck says

      September 10, 2013 at 21:40

I just watched that, bombed at 165 🙁 He made 178 in London and bombed at 205

    • milton says

      September 10, 2013 at 22:38

lots of various factors sadly, he is coming from a long layoff. he hasn’t been 100 percent healthy since 2009 and the commentators mentioned how for his injuries to completely heal he must stop training altogether. they also subtly hinted that lu has not been training as hard and systematically as he should (slacking off a bit at times). andThey made a subtle hint that lu looks “soft” , as in his muscle didn’t look as big and defined as before

I saw an interview with Lu yong, he has loose bone fragments in his foot. he has to start every lifting session with getting his foot taped. he is waiting until he retires to get the surgery.

After the competition, Lu Yong said he will most likely retire. 🙁

When and where are the 2014 nationals? In China for a year, I figure this will be the best chance I have of meeting some of my Chinese heroes.
