no this is not national competition
this is just recording to select the member of national team for RIO.

Isn’t he suspended? Is he going for Rio?

No he is not, and yes he’s going to Rio.

Since he’s kind of mistery lifter (his training clips are even more impressive than Ilya) it would be cool to see if he delivers performance on big stage. He’s my number 2 in 94kg class, just after Zielinski

He clean and jerked 216 as a 85 lifter so i will just assume he can preform on stage

I find it very interesting that nobody favors last years world champ Vadzim Straltsou. Not that these videos above weren’t mighty impressive…

Seems like most likely Belarus will be banned, so Straltsou will not go to Rio…

From what I managed to gather from google translate the full results from this selection were:

    85 kg: Seyed Ayoub Mousavi

    162x – 162x – 165
    200 – 210x – 211x
    365 total

    94 kg: Ali Hashemi

    172, 175, 180x
    212x, 212x, 215x
He dropped 212 on his neck on 2nd attempt. I read on his instagram he broke his nose, I’m not sure if he came out for 215 on his 3rd attempt.

    94 kg: Sohrab Moradi

    180, 185x, 188x
    225, 234, —
    414 total

    105 kg: Mohammad Reza Barari

    180 – 185x – 185x
    220 – 225x – 225x
    400 total

    105+kg: Bahador Moulaei

    190 – 195x – 195x
    240 – 252x – ???

Salimi was absent for some reason. So I’m guessing Iran’s team in Rio will be Rostami, Moradi, Barari, Moulaei and Salimi. With Rostami and Moradi they have 2 gold medal chances (if they perform). It’s a shame it doesn’t seem Moulaei will regain his 2013 form and with Salimi still uncertain those 2 will probably be lifting for bronze. Iran’s team was much stronger in London.

Depending on what happens with Russia and Kazakhstan, I think Barari will be in the medal hunt. 400 on openers is pretty good. He his 184/220 snatch at Fajr cup. If he can be around 184/223 which is doable, that will be in the hunt for bronze.

I felt same about my 2 countrymen: Bonk and Michalski. After Russia/Kazakh athlete reduction they had chance to sneak to podium spot

I don’t think so… Bonk is weak, if he does not bomb out he will do 400 at most… Will be beaten by two Uzbeks, Chinese and Latvian. I rate Michalski higher but his snatch is holding him from good total. If he could at least do 182… but never did. 180 is the highest?

I believe Michalski is capable of 180+230 on good day, not sure about Bonk since he’s bombing lately (in nationals too). He’s snatch used to be his strong side, he snatched 200kg in training, but it was a while ago

Salimi is supposed to do the same in two weeks, since he started his training program after the rest, he wasn’t ready to go heavy that day
