Dmitry Klokov 245kg Jerk (2015)

February 3, 2015 By Gregor Winter

Meanwhile in Belgium …

Dmitry Klokov gets a 245kg Jerk.

I think the last time we saw this weight from him was during his London Olympics preparation when he did the “Klokov Complex”.

Remember those days, when training footage from him was so rare?

Update: Here is Dmitry’s longer video.

I don’t understand how all the travelling and jet lag doesn’t get to him. Insanely impressive.

For someone like Klokov that has developed such a strength base, the jerk – much like the snatch – is more on the technical/explosive side of exercises and is not as sensitve to strength fluctuation as squats. Weightlifters that pick up training after a break often see themselves struggling to clean weights that they can jerk easily even if the jerk is usually their weakness when they’re in shape. I have experienced this many times. Same with snatch: Declining strength levels are merely affecting performance in the short term.

That’s me right now. Still got it on the jerk, clean is pathetic, and its all due to getting older and not pushing it as hard anymore.

Still to maintain a 200 kg snatch (granted with straps) and to jerk 245 kg are damn impressive.

“Remember those days, when training footage from him was so rare?”

Oh yeah .. I was so excited when I saw a video from him the first time: “Wow, we can see an elite weightlifter in training that’s something very special” And then there was a second one and some time later he started his YouTube channel with a handful of videos. All the weightlifting fans were going crazy over them *g*

Months later he is a businessman and strength community star with thousands of subscribers, almost uploading videos every day, traveling around the globe … still feels kinda weird sometimes, I’m with you on this one, Gregor 🙂
Regardless of the notorious haters you gotta say he has done many things damn right so far.

His best one is still ‘vot-tak-vo-blyaa’ from 205 deficit snatch.
BTW, Vasiliy Polovnikov’s constant ‘vot tak vot’ is a play/parody of a Russian self-proclaimed “world champion bodybuilder”

Thanks – I was wondering about Polovnikov’s repeating of ‘vot tak vot’. Is there any story to his pronunciation of ‘normal’no’?

Cussin’ always sounds best in the mother tongue.

In other news. They said on Iron Radio that Klokov has signed with one of the Grid teams. Grid is a sport of Crossfit-eque team events. So they hired Klokov as a specialist. That would mean that he won’t prepare for Rio I guess.
