Dusty Hyland from Dogtown CrossFit has some really good videos on Handstand development. Past videos in the series: Handstand Position Handstand Balance Wall Pulls to increase time spent in free Handstand And today he added a video on Handstand Shoulder Taps (sometimes referred to as Handstand Wall Runs). A great exercise I do (not enough) on […]
Meanwhile in China … How about some closed kinetic chain exercises for weightlifters? We have seen Lu Xiaojun doing Handstand Push Ups. However I have not seen the weighted version with 40kg strapped to their backs.
Saw this photo of Chen Yibing on the Gymnastic Bodies FB Page. Olympic Champion Chen Yibing is doing one of his twice weekly THIRTY minute wall handstands The reason I post this is because I remembered that I posted a video about Chinese Gymnastics training a while ago. And 30 minutes is actually not quite right. […]
Kit Laughlin has a a little guide to better wrist mobility, bodyline exercises, and handstands. Available as PDF via Posture and Flexibility Check out more drills on Mobility 101.
Yuri from the gymnastic bodies forums shows how to implement handstand blocks into your handstand training. I have not played around with blocks, but stacking & traversing seem like great exercises to improve body coordination and overall body awareness. He also shared his warm-up with lots of good variations. I really like that weighted side stretch in […]
More gymnastics stuff today. Here is a video with some good drills to improve your handstands. Jim from Beastskills.com shared a nice handstand training tool on the BeastSkills Facebook Page. A simple and brilliant idea from Yuval Ayalon. A board to practice handstands (and one arm handstands) that is level, mobile, and has two lines on it that help one visualize and keep their body in line.
Jim from BeastSkills.com shows some of his Reverse Muscle-up aka ‘Elevator’ training. I like the idea of using two boxes (instead of unstable rings) to learn this. A beastly upper body Pull / Push exercise.
Huang Xu with an interesting handstand push-up variation. More like Handstand, shoulder stand push-up. Thanks to the reader who submitted this via the submit Blog Input Form.
